In a gunfight with state police command agents, at least five members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Ebonyi Local Government Area, Ebonyi State, are said to have died. Around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the trio allegedly broke into the Ishieke Police Station in a blue Sienna bus and started shooting inside. However, they were defeated by the police after a roughly 30-minute gunfight.
There have been reports that during the gunfight, police cars were set on fire. On Wednesday night, a video of the thugs’ corpses was circulated on social media. A distress call from the Ishieke Police Station was promptly answered by soldiers and agents from the state police command headquarters in Abakiliki. Residents were forced to flee for their life due to intense gunfire, according to a trustworthy source. “The gunmen arrived at the Ishieke Police Station and opened fire.” Before more security personnel arrived for reinforcement, the police responded and the situation continued for roughly thirty minutes.
“So more security operatives including soldiers came in their numbers to apprehend the hoodlums.”And as the thugs encountered their demise at the hands of the advance team, they began to retreat in an attempt to flee, firing intermittently on the air as they travelled to the Odomoke Ishieke market side along Nwiboko Obodo route in the Ebonyi Council Area,” he clarified. As of the time this report was filed, the police had not yet released a comment regarding the attack. It was learned that the bodies and the gunmen’s Sienna bus had been transported to the state police headquarters.
